Pros and Cons of Live Streaming Your Wedding on Facebook

When it comes to live streaming your wedding, you have a few options, including social media. While streaming your wedding live on Facebook might sound like an okay idea, let’s look at some of the pros and cons.

Pro: It’s Free

One of the best things about live streaming your wedding via Facebook is that it’s free! You don’t need to pay for a service. That said, there might be a few extra things you do want to purchase to improve the quality of your stream, such as a tripod or a microphone.

While couples do pay for a LoveStream virtual wedding, they also receive a ton of human-power to make the event happen, including tech support, a rehearsal and a custom website that we create.

Con: You Can Get Shut Down

Facebook has an algorithm that will shut down your live stream if you have copyrighted music – that’s most music you’d hear at a wedding. At LoveStream, we’ve purchased music rights to make sure nothing like that happens during your wedding live stream.

Pro: You’re Already Familiar With the Platform

If you are like most people, you’re already familiar with how the Facebook platform works, so there won’t be much of a learning curve.

At LoveStream, you’ll be happy to know that all of our packages include an onboarding call to get you acquainted with our software, as well as a dedicated producer and guided rehearsal for our Plus and Premium packages.

Con: Not Everyone Has a Facebook

Not everyone has a Facebook page – and we’re not just talking about older guests. Many younger people these days don’t hang out on this particular social media platform. This might prevent some guests from being able to watch your wedding live stream.

Con: There’s No Tech Support

If you run into trouble trying to live stream your wedding on Facebook, you’ll be out of luck when it comes to tech support.

With LoveStream, all of our packages come with some level of tech support.

For Basic, you will have full access to a portal with all of the info you need in order to live stream your wedding. In there, you can chat our team at any time with questions about your wedding. On wedding day, you will have an emergency contact from our team assigned to your wedding who you can reach out to should you run into any issues.

For Plus and Premium, the tech support is even greater. You receive the same portal access and Basic, but you also have a guided tech rehearsal with a LoveStream specialist, a day-of producer who will run your wedding, and your virtual guests can also chat our team live if they have any issues at all watching your wedding.

Con: There’s Only One Camera Angle

Finally, with Facebook Live, you can only stream from one camera. With LoveStream, we can include up to three cameras in our Plus package and up to five in our Premium package. That way, your wedding guests can see all of the action with multiple camera angles.
