MUSIC RIGHTS

We do things the (music) right way.

Live streaming your wedding to Facebook, Instagram or YouTube means an automatic stream shut-down if copyrighted music is played.

Your wedding music is almost certainly copyrighted.

What is copyrighted music?

It would be easier to tell you what isn’t copyrighted music. Copyrighted music is music that is not in the public domain. Songs in the public domain can be used by anyone for any reason - think religious hymns, classical music, nursery rhymes and the like.

Almost all music released in the last 75 years is copyrighted. Etta James, Ed Sheeran, Frank Sinatra, Kanye… you get the idea.

What happens if you stream copyrighted music?

Have you ever uploaded a video to Facebook, only for there to be no sound? It’s most often because your video had copyrighted music in it.

If copyrighted music is used on Facebook, YouTube or other platforms, those platforms are held liable for violating the copyright. That means they have invested heavily in bots that detect copyrighted music and remove content that features it, including during live streams.

A bot doesn’t care that you’re walking down the aisle to “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. Your stream WILL be turned off if using copyrighted music at your wedding.

LoveStream has taken steps to remove the risk associated with live streaming your wedding.

LoveStream couple Christen & Dane

“We debated on live streaming through Facebook or YouTube but had a lot of hesitations about this approach. We then came across LoveStream and we were extremely impressed. We were impacted by COVID and had to cancel and redo most of our wedding plans. The team was extremely patient and accommodating as we asked lots of questions. We really trusted their team and our first meeting with the LoveStream team really made the decision for us.”
