Places to Splurge with a Virtual Wedding

You’ve been saving for your wedding. Maybe you were expecting to hit that $35,000 average wedding budget. Then you decide to downsize your guest count and have a majority of your guests joining you virtually. So, what do you do with that extra cash? We’ve got some ideas!

Your Virtual Wedding Backdrop

For a typical wedding, you might spend less on your ceremony background and more on your reception design, as that’s where your guests will spend a majority of their time. But for a virtual wedding, the ceremony will be the main event for online guests, so go ahead and splurge on that gorgeous backdrop. A custom arbor with cascading florals, a huge flower or balloon arch, or a complete floral wall will make a huge statement.

Live Musicians

Depending on the timeline of your wedding, you might have some ‘dead air.” While this might sound morbid, it simply refers to periods of time when your online guests aren’t watching the action. Maybe you and your boo are off changing into your reception outfits or taking a small intermission. Hiring a live band or strings section are a great way to keep your guests entertained online and in-person.

Bridal Bouquet

Go big for your bridal bouquet. We’re talking I-can’t-believe-I-spent-that-much-on-flowers type of big. It’s (hopefully!) your one chance to be a bride for a day, so splurge on something special just for the heck of it.

Expensive Champagne

For champagne toasts, the drink is more symbolic than anything else. Frankly, champagne at weddings is usually just alright. It’s what you expect when you have to split bottles between 200 guests. So, if your in-person guest list is tight, splurge on some Dom Perignon!

Hair, Makeup and Attire

If you’re saving money by having fewer in-person guests, go ahead and schedule a facial for you and your spouse the day before the wedding. Skip the DIY hair and makeup and pay for a professional so you feel like a celebrity getting prepped for the red carpet. And for attire? Get that custom suit or designer dress. It’s your big day!

Dinner and Dessert

Catering is almost always charged per-guest, so feeding a group of 200 is insanely more expensive than feeding a group of 25 or 50. Take that 200-person catering budget and apply it to fancy plated meals, serving staff, and five or six courses of delicious eats.

More Cameras

One of the best places to splurge when having a virtual wedding is on your actual wedding live stream. Bumping up from our one-camera Basic package to the three-camera Plus package can completely transform your wedding. Or going from Plus to Premium, where you can have up to nine cameras in the stream, will let you capture every moment or even bring in remote toast-makers.
