10 Things We Love About Micro Weddings

Micro wedding is becoming a buzzword in the wedding planning community, and we can see why! A micro wedding is a little bigger than an elopement wedding, and a little smaller than your standard wedding – typically topping out with a guest list of no more than 50 people.

Today, we wanted to share a few of our favorite things (Sound of Music style) about micro weddings.

1. Raindrops on roses.

We promise we won’t actually give y’all the entire lyrics to My Favorite Things, but one thing we love about micro weddings is that they are typically a lot less pressure than normal weddings. You’re surrounded only by those you love, trust and cherish most. These are the people who aren’t going to care if it rains a little bit or if the food is late. So don’t mind those raindrops on your roses, because your guests certainly don’t.

2. It’s more intimate.

As we just said, the people at the wedding are there because you love them, not because societal standards said you have to invite your entire office.

3. You can get goofy.

When you’re in a room with people you’re especially close to, you can totally be yourself. You can share inside jokes, you can dance like nobody’s watching and you can just have fun without feeling like you need to put on airs.

4. More food for you and yours!

Sure, your caterer probably adjusted everything to account for a smaller guest count, but it still feels nice for guests when there aren’t 100 people in ahead of them in the buffet line.

5. Quicker transition times.

Fewer people equals less time to transition between events. Getting 150 people served and seated takes quite some time. But 45 people? That would be a lot faster!

6. More elbow room.

If you have 50 people at your venue that can hold 200, it will feel nice and spacious for seating, dancing and eating.

7. It feels special for your in-person guests.

Guests who show up to a wedding with just a handful of other guests will feel so loved about making the final cut! They will know that they truly matter to you and your boo.

8. You can still share it with everybody!

Just because you’re having a micro wedding doesn’t mean that only a few people can watch your ceremony. With LoveStream, you can live stream your wedding to anyone and everyone who can’t be there in-person.

9. It’s safer, COVID-wise.

Many states still have gathering restrictions in place. The fewer people in a space together, the less likely it is that a large outbreak will occur -- but still remember to follow safety guidelines!

10. You can save a ton of money.

A third of the guests means a third of the chairs, tables, dinners, centerpieces, decorations, beverages and wedding favors. That ends up saving you a ton of money on your overall wedding budget, especially if you find other cost-saving options like DIY bouquets and centerpieces!
